Dr Jennifer Kuhn
Jenny has worked in public education as a teacher and school leader, in addition to undertaking a variety of roles out of schools, including as Manager of the Leadership Centre and Director of Schools. Jenny began her career in education as a secondary English teacher and later serendipitously switched to primary teaching after the birth of her three children.
Jenny’s enthusiasm for her work and school education has been career long. She has a particular interest in learning and engagement of students whose life opportunities and life trajectories are non- standard and trickier.
Jenny completed her Masters degree and Doctor of Education at The University of Western Australia where her theses were on School Leadership. She later lectured at The University of Western Australia for the Masters in School Leadership course, focussing on Leading Curriculum Innovation.
In her most recent post as Principal at Malvern Springs Primary School in Ellenbrook, Jenny participated in the three year Fogarty EDvance program. She found the comprehensive, rigorous structure and content of the program inspiring. It provided a springboard for school improvement through collaboration, support, accountability and top class resources. The designers of EDvance magically represented the complexities of schools in practical ways, especially in regard to high impact teaching.
Jenny considers the wealth of experiences and range of people she has met through working with and in schools and the wider educational community a gift. She enjoys her family and spends a lot of time with her nine lively, much loved grandchildren.
