Balcatta SHS was established in 1967 and has a strong history of providing high-quality opportunities for students from a diverse range of backgrounds. The school has recently undergone a $50 million build and refurbishment including facilities for an Education Support Program and The Arts.

Balcata SHS are 1 of 4 gifted and talented visual arts schools in the state. In addition they offer specialist Dance, Music and Academic Extension.
